The last time I talked to my dad in person, he said he wanted to come to the big Christmas gathering as Santa Claus. He has a long white beard now and would definitely be the part – excepting the huge belly. So I thought for his present I would make him a Santa hat.
It was an original pattern, gathering two cable patterns from my knit stitch book and composing one of my own. I made a white Pom Pom to put on the top. I hope he likes it. I’m going to make him some Christmas colored knitted driving fingerless gloves too, if I have time.
This is the first mitten.
It’s a flip flap mitten that I heavily modified. The original mitten was not a flip flap mitten.
My mom asked me for a thumb to pull back so she could use her phone. I didn’t think it would be good to keep a fair isle pattern with that thumb because of the hole I put it in, so I kept it solid. My mom’s fingers are longer than mine so I had to extend the pattern that I had (which I think that the girl who made the pattern has smaller hands than me). I used a size bigger needles than it called for too.
The second mitten is about 60% done. And then I have to figure out how to block it.
I was actually able to knit this hat in one day. I guess I’m getting faster. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. It’s an original design… or I guess a modified design between a sweater pattern and a hat.
Festive Christmas toddler and newborn size hats.
Festive mittens for your toddler.
And camo mittens for boys.
I finally finished the hat today that I’ve been working on for a while. It’s for one of my aunts. I used the Be Kind pattern on ravelry. I changed the bulk of the pattern in that I the purl stitches are red and the knit stitches are purple. I have rather fallen in love with stranded knitting, changing colors and so forth. It’s pretty awesome. I’m only modeling it for picture purposes.
This particular picture has no real purpose except that I like how it looks. 🙂
I actually like the reverse side of the hat better than the right side. I suppose you could wear it however you want.
This is the right side of the hat.You can wear the solid red part of the hat over your ears or flip it up if you like, as in the rest of the pictures.
I promised my aunt a hat… a while ago. She requested these colors. 🙂 It’s like the red hat society. It should be done within the next week, depending on how my children behave and if I can knit while they’re awake or if I have to do it when they are asleep.
I went to the local yarn store today. I haven’t been to the store … wow… since before I was married and that was like almost 4 years ago. It changed a lot. But I found this skein of yarn and I never knew how much you could really like yarn until I saw this one. It’s Universal Yarn Bamboo Pop, color: Bright Spot. I think I’ll make myself a hat out of it. It’s so soft. I just want to bury my face in it.
